The Opportunity
ARM is recruiting for a Subsidence & Drainage Investigation Engineer to join a specialist field-based team covering Basingstoke and the surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced drainage professional who enjoys working independently, solving complex site issues, and delivering a high standard of customer service. The successful candidate will carry out detailed drainage and subsidence investigations, identify defects, and provide technical recommendations for repairs while ensuring customers are fully informed and reassured throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently conduct drainage and subsidence investigations at residential properties.
- Complete CCTV drainage surveys, including recording, labelling and reporting findings.
- Use CAT scanners and sondes to locate buried services and trace drainage systems.
- Carry out excavations to locate foundations and support subsidence investigations.
- Undertake trial holes and collect soil and root samples for analysis.
- Diagnose drainage defects and provide recommendations for repair solutions.
- Complete minor drainage repairs where required, including replacement of gullies, rest bends and sections of shallow pipework.
- Reinstate a variety of domestic surface finishes, including paving slabs, block paving, tarmac and concrete.
- Deliver excellent customer service, clearly explaining works undertaken and findings.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and quality at all times.
- Liaise with technical support teams to resolve technical queries and support successful job completion.
Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience within drainage investigations, drainage maintenance, civil engineering, utilities or a similar field.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Comfortable carrying out excavation work and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Desirable
- Experience using CCTV drainage inspection equipment.
- Experience using CAT scanners and sondes to locate drainage systems and buried services.
- Previous experience carrying out trial holes and foundation investigations.
- Experience reinstating domestic surfaces including paving, block paving, tarmac and concrete.
- Ability to complete minor drainage repairs, including gullies, rest bends and pipework replacements.
- Previous experience in subsidence investigations.
Salary & Benefits
Financial Package
- Basic Salary: £32,381 - £37,793 (dependent on experience)
- Annual Bonus: Approximately £2,000 - £2,500
- 5.5% Pension Contribution: Approximately £1,781 - £2,079
- Total Package Value: £36,412 - £42,122
