Senior Software Engineer – Non-Human Identity
The challenge
A US technology start-up needed a Senior Software Engineer to help build new Non-Human Identity technology.
With NHI and agentic identity still emerging, there is no large, established candidate market – or even a consistent set of job titles for people combining software engineering and identity expertise.
The role had been open for 170 days when ARM got the assignment.
ARM’s approach
Dave looked beyond conventional job-title searches, focusing instead on the underlying expertise required.
The search targeted hands-on technical “builders” capable of creating identity solutions from the ground up, with relevant expertise including Python, Rust, MCP, OAuth and OpenID Connect. ARM then used its identity network and market knowledge to find candidates with the right crossover of software development and identity expertise.
The outcome
Within 29 days, ARM had progressed two candidates to final interview.
It demonstrates an emerging recruitment challenge: finding specialist talent before an established candidate market – or even consistent job titles – has had time to develop.
