Software/Digital Engineer in Reading, Berkshire

ICT Engineer - either Synthetics, ITEA or TLS bias as positions for each

Initial 6-Month contract - Inside IR35 - market rate

Reading based - 2 days a week onsite

Defence Sector - must have current and active SC Clearance to be considered

Job purpose

The ICT Engineer supports the implementation, operation, maintenance, and evolution of digital tools supporting Model and Simulation (Synthetics), Virtual and Physical Testing, Qualification, and Certification (ITEA), or Training and Through Life Support (TLS), development toolchains, and automation capabilities.

Key Accountabilities and Objectives

Accountabilities include (but are not limited to):

• Implement, configure, test, deploy, and maintain digital tools and environments.
• Develop scripts and automation utilities.
• Support platform integration and operational activities.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and support end users.
• Produce and review deliverables and technical documentation.

Lifecycle Management

• Support platform maintenance and upgrades.
• Contribute to automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support deployment and release activities.

Governance

• Ensure compliance with engineering standards and processes.
• Maintain configuration and operational documentation.
• Support audit and quality assurance activities.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in the implementation and deployment of digital tools supporting one of the following domains:
• Model and Simulation (Synthetics)
• Virtual and Physical Testing, Qualification, and Certification (ITEA)
• Training and Through Life Support (TLS)

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in Aerospace or Defence projects delivering digital tools.
• Microsoft Azure Devops certification or other CI/CD environments

Skills and Experience:

• Experience in the implementation and deployment of digital tools
• Scripting and automation.
• Troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Team collaboration and communication.
• Experience with MS Azure suite or similar environment

Desirable:

• Model-Based Development exposure.
• Cloud, container, or infrastructure automation experience.
• Experience working with MoD and Defence Prime system integrators and suppliers preferably in aerospace.
• Experience working transnationally.
• Familiarity with system, data and technical architecture.
• Architecture across the full system engineering lifecycle.
• Effective communication and management of stakeholders including Product Owners, Delivery Managers, Engineers, IT team and end users to ensure all needs are considered and expectations are managed.
