Transport Planner

Location: Doncaster - Hybrid
Contract: 3 months
Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate: £40 per hour

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join a local authority on a 3-month contract.

The successful candidate will support the transport and highways function, providing transport planning advice across development, policy and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and support transport strategies, policies and programmes.
• Review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
• Provide advice on transport and highways standards.
• Manage consultations relating to planning applications.
• Work with developers, contractors, internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Represent the authority at regional and national transport meetings.
• Support transport projects, budgets and programme delivery.
• Monitor the quality and performance of suppliers and contractors.
• Prepare reports and present information to senior officers, committees and stakeholders.
• Keep up to date with transport policy, legislation and highways standards.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

• A degree in Planning, Transport or a related subject.
• Strong knowledge of transport planning, highways and planning policy.
• Experience delivering transport projects and programmes.
• Strong stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills.
• Experience working with developers, local authorities and other partners.
• Good understanding of project and budget management.
• Experience preparing complex reports and presenting to senior stakeholders or committees.
