Severe Accident & Containment Systems Manager

Location: Derby, Manchester or Warrington - Hybrid
Salary: £60,000 - £78,750 + up to 12.5% bonus

ARM is recruiting for a Severe Accident & Containment Systems Manager to join a leading organisation in the nuclear and advanced energy sector, supporting a major Small Modular Reactor (SMR) programme.

This is an opportunity for an experienced engineering leader to oversee the design and delivery of containment and severe accident systems within a highly regulated, safety-critical environment.

The Role

You will lead a team developing technically robust, integrated systems, with responsibility for design development, requirements management, substantiation, governance and team capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop engineers delivering containment and severe accident systems.
• Define system requirements and lead design optioneering and solution selection.
• Ensure compliance with configuration control, governance and design assurance.
• Oversee requirements specifications, design reports and P&IDs.
• Apply systems engineering to design substantiation and regulatory compliance.
• Consider E3S, ALARP and nuclear safety principles throughout design.
• Manage work packages, milestones, technical risks and stakeholder interfaces.
• Work with design, safety case and regulatory teams to support licensing and design maturity.

About You

• Engineering/science degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience delivering complex systems design in a regulated or safety-critical environment.
• Experience leading or coordinating engineering teams.
• Strong systems engineering, requirements management and design substantiation experience.
• Experience with technical documentation, specifications and P&IDs.
• Understanding of E3S, ALARP and regulatory requirements.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Benefits

£60,000 - £78,750 salary, up to 12.5% bonus, £2,200 flexible benefits allowance, 18% combined pension, 28 days' holiday + public holidays, private medical insurance and life assurance.
