About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vehicle Diagnostic Author to join a collaborative and professional team supporting a leading automotive OEM. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in vehicle diagnostics and a strong understanding of automotive electronic systems who are passionate about creating clear, accurate, and effective technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the diagnosis of complex vehicle faults using symptoms, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), and engineering data.
- Develop and author diagnostic workflows that guide technicians through fault-finding and repair processes.
- Create, manage, review, and publish technical diagnostic content for use by dealer networks and service technicians.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and subject matter experts to gather, validate, and interpret technical information.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and aligned with quality standards.
- Contribute to diagnostic solution development, testing, and validation activities.
- Work effectively within a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Understanding of vehicle systems development, programme integration, and diagnostics processes.
- Expert in Microsoft Office packages.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to diagnose faults.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience producing technical documentation from a variety of information sources.
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Professional and customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in diagnostic technical authoring.
- Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (STE).
- Experience using 3D CAD or modelling software.
