Technical Platform Engineering Lead in Reading, Berkshire

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Platform Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership across software engineering and platform initiatives. You'll play a key role in designing and delivering secure, scalable technology platforms while driving cloud adoption, DevSecOps practices, and engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable technology platforms.
• Drive platform engineering, cloud adoption, and infrastructure automation.
• Champion DevSecOps, CI/CD, and secure-by-design principles.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and delivery plans.
• Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
• Work closely with technical and business stakeholders to deliver strategic technology initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 5+ years' experience in a technical leadership role within software engineering, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale technology platforms.
• Strong experience with AWS, Azure or GCP, container technologies, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform or Ansible).
• Solid understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and observability.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.

Desirable

• Experience with Platform Engineering or Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs).
• Experience within a regulated industry.
• Knowledge of secure coding, threat modelling, and IT service management.
• Certifications such as CKA, AWS/Azure/GCP, Scrum, ITIL, or PMP.
