My Client requires a "hands on" Manufacturing Engineer / Assembly Specialist for their world-class Manufacturing facility in Lancashire

The role

A requirement has emerged for a highly competent Assembly Specialist. Ideal experience will be from the Aerospace, avionics or Defence industry on complex, high precision assemblies.

This role will be required to: -
Act as the focal point/SME on-site with regards to Assembly processes, with a need to utilise the expertise within the wider group via networking with the Specialist/Expert community.
- Maximise the capability of the existing production method via identification of improvement opportunities.
- Work closely with the Production and Quality departments to, define, implement and maintain assembly processes used in the manufacture of large aircraft nacelle structures (Thrust Reversers and Fan Cowl Doors).
- Ensure world-class, financially sustainable processes are established .These could be fully- automated, semi-automated or entirely manual assembly processes.
- Effectively manage all assembly process risks associated with HSE, capability, capacity and finance.
- Ensure that effective process planning is in place to support manufacture across multiple assembly lines, taking into account the different production constraints of rate and Takt time.
- Define, implement and maintain capable processes, proven via the application of Statistical Process Control (SPC)

What we're looking for:-
Degree educated in an appropriate subject (Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering) with at least 5 years industrial experience OR at least 10 years experience without degree education.
- Proficient with CAD software packages (CATIA v5 preferable).
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferable).
- Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Good understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Good understanding of Root Cause and Correct Action (RCCA) methods
- Data driven mind set.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), able to communicate technical subjects in simplistic terms.
- Experience in Lean Sigma (preferable).
- Understanding of, APQP and PPAP methods and documents (preferable).
- Specific knowledge of aircraft nacelle components and structures (desirable).
- Background in Tooling and Fixtures (building and/or inspection).
