Two Decades!

Company News

Two decades of forging the way in technology and engineering recruitment.

Our Chairman, Paul Huntingdon, is a visionary. Recruitment in 1996 was a very different ballgame. The industry lacked firms with a highly professional, consultative approach. It also lacked recruiters driven by a focus on service. So he launched ARM, specialising in recruiting skilled contractors and permanent hires in technology and engineering.

How’s the last two decades been?

We’ve come a long way. From humble beginnings to the top 4 UK’s largest engineering recruiters, with over 40 awards to our name in the last 10 years. We even grew through the recession, generating a 58% increase in revenue over the last five years to £120 million, and a 42% increase in headcount to 169.

The ARM difference

Over two decades, we have built up a wealth of knowledge of our specialist markets, and a vast network of several hundred thousand skilled candidates. We have filled more than 13,500 jobs at over 1,650 organisations.

The focus on service and professionalism is as important now as it was in 1996. It’s why many of our customers come to us through personal referral, and return to us again and again. Our clients have been with us for an average of eight years, some even longer!

A new era?

So how have our markets changed in the last two decades?

For a start, Google didn’t even exist back in 1996 – the world had to wait two more years for that landmark arrival. And, of course, everything has changed beyond imagination ever since with the meteoric rise of the internet. There has been rapid evolution in the kinds of skills that organisations need and how people work; access to information, collaborative tools and the ability to work on the move and remotely through mobile technology being three of the biggest advancements.

Engineering has experienced huge changes, impacting the required skillsets. Rail has seen huge development. There has been constant innovation in aircraft efficiency. Investment has piled into oil and gas, enabling more effective energy production.

Looking ahead?

It’s impossible to predict how things will be in 2036, but we’re sure the next two decades will be just as exciting as the last.

“We look forward to helping our clients, our candidates and our own people make the absolute most of the opportunities ahead. Thank you for celebrating our milestone birthday with us and here’s to the next 20 years!”
