We are currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a major public-sector infrastructure programme in London.
This is a strategic and highly bespoke commercial role, focused on developing innovative commercial frameworks, agreements and cost recovery models rather than traditional contract management or standard NEC-based infrastructure work.
The successful candidate will provide senior commercial leadership, working across Legal, Finance, Procurement, Engineering and Operations to develop commercial strategies and solutions within a complex, regulated environment.
Key responsibilities:
-
Develop and implement commercial strategies across the programme.
-
Create innovative commercial and cost recovery models.
-
Develop, negotiate and implement bespoke commercial agreements and Heads of Terms.
-
Lead governance approvals and prepare recommendations for senior/executive stakeholders.
-
Manage commercial risk, procurement considerations and compliance requirements.
-
Lead complex negotiations with multiple external stakeholders and suppliers.
-
Develop charging methodologies and financial models.
-
Support business case development and commercial decision-making.
-
Provide commercial leadership throughout the programme lifecycle.
-
Work closely with Legal, Finance, Procurement, Engineering and Operational teams.
About you:
-
Significant senior commercial management experience.
-
Strong experience developing commercial strategies and business cases.
-
Strong governance, compliance and procurement knowledge, including the Procurement Act.
-
Proven experience creating and negotiating bespoke commercial agreements.
-
Experience managing commercial risk within complex environments.
-
Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
-
Comfortable presenting recommendations to senior and executive-level governance forums.
-
Experience within major infrastructure, transport, utilities, energy or another complex regulated environment is highly desirable.
-
Experience developing commercial frameworks where no established precedent exists would be advantageous.
-
Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
Desirable professional qualifications include MRICS, MCIPS, MBA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
This is a particularly niche opportunity and would suit a commercially minded professional who can operate confidently in an ambiguous environment and develop practical solutions where established commercial models do not already exist.
