Senior CAE Simulation Engineer in Gaydon, Warwickshire

PermanentJob Purpose:
Work within a team of Vehicle Dynamics and Chassis Simulation Engineers, deliver simulations supporting gateways and the virtual DVPs, strive to advance the simulations capability and improve the DVP efficiency and robustness
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the virtual vehicle development process in accordance with the Vehicle Development Programme and deploy the Target Cascade to Engineering Specification process for Vehicle Performance and Chassis systems delivery
- Investigate vehicle dynamics issues arising during development
- Develop, maintain, and advance the Vehicle Performance and Chassis simulation processes and procedures
- Ensure a high level of documentation and reporting
- Conduct research into simulation strategies/methodologies to enhanced group simulation capabilities and efficiencies
- Conduct model correlation activities including definition of test requirements, sensors, and data acquisition instrumentation
- Collaborate with the Chassis and Powertrain Control groups to create and develop control system algorithms in conjunction with SW & HW suppliers
- Work alongside the Powertrain CAE team in the development of integrated chassis and powertrain simulation models and frameworks
Qualification & Experience:
- Initial experience in multi-body simulation for vehicle performance engineering within the Automotive/Motorsport industry
- Initial experience in Chassis Virtual Development process with multi-body simulation tools and correlation against testing data
- Basic understanding of vehicle-level attributes development process with simulation tools
- Basic understanding of tyre dynamic behaviours
- Basic understanding of suspension kinematic & compliance metrics and their impact on full vehicle attributes
- Experience in MATLAB/Simulink for 1D model development and data processing
- Proven capability of data post-processing, analysis, and optimization techniques
- Experience in multi-body simulation for vehicle performance engineering within the Automotive/Motorsport industry
- Experience in Chassis Virtual Development process with multi-body simulation tools and correlation against testing data
- Experience in chassis systems virtual development and validation
- Experience in tyre virtual development and validation for handling, longitudinal performances, and ride comfort
- Comprehension of technical innovations and concept assessment
- BSc in relevant discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Physics, etc.)
- Competence in the usage of multi-body simulation tools for vehicle dynamics (any between ADAMS/Car, ADAMS/Chassis, Simpack, Dymola, VI-CarRealTime, IPGCarMaker, CarSim)
- MSc in relevant discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Physics, etc.)
- Proficiency in the usage of ADAMS/Car and VI-CarRealTime
