Job Title: Sales & Marketing Manager

Reports to: Chief Commercial & Business Development Officer (CCO)

Job Summary and Purpose:
The Sales & Marketing Manager is accountable for executing the marine business development strategy aligned with the organization's business plan and revenue goals. The role involves developing new business lines, expanding and improving existing ones, and creating communication channels between the market and the organization to foster growth opportunities. This position emphasizes building upon the organization's brand to connect audiences with products and services effectively.

The role also entails guiding a team of marketing and business development experts to ensure impactful and consistent corporate marketing in line with business objectives. It focuses on identifying key differentiators, establishing a compelling market message, and positioning the organization's products and services effectively. Key responsibilities include researching, prospecting, and qualifying leads, supporting their conversion to sales, and preparing analytical insights on growth opportunities while monitoring their implementation.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Promote positive client relations by engaging professionally and fairly with all clients and instilling this philosophy within the team.

  2. Enhance client relationships through continuous engagement and timely updates.

  3. Analyze sales data to produce actionable management insights such as win/loss reasons, opportunity progress, and sales performance.

  4. Communicate effectively with team members and involve them in decision-making.

  5. Maintain awareness of client needs and project requirements.

  6. Prepare and deliver presentations to clients for projects in progress.

  7. Collaborate with commercial and marketing teams to secure projects.

  8. Develop new business opportunities through internal discussions and external client engagement.

  9. Provide timely reporting on project developments.

  10. Monitor competitor activities and market trends.

  11. Identify valuable resources to support business development efforts.

  12. Represent the organization at national and international exhibitions and conferences.

  13. Engage with agents and representatives in other territories to identify opportunities.

  14. Approach challenges with considered, calm, and non-impulsive reasoning.

  15. Conduct independent market studies and present findings.

  16. Create proposals and market reports while producing timely updates on industry trends.

  17. Implement strategic public relations programs to enhance brand awareness.

  18. Generate and follow up on new business leads.

  19. Liaise with international agents to improve market positioning.

  20. Oversee the development and management of marketing executives and administrative staff.

  21. Identify media trends and opportunities to enhance brand visibility.

  22. Manage budgets and track campaign return on investment.

  23. Respond to media and public inquiries and maintain effective relationships with media representatives.

  24. Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Result Areas:

  • Number of new clients acquired

  • Number of enquiries and tenders generated per quarter

  • Conversion rate of proposals to orders per quarter

  • New business developed annually

  • Number of client visits to the facility per quarter

  • Client presentations delivered per quarter

  • Events attended to represent the organization annually

  • Clear market messaging and product/service positioning aligned with joint ventures and strategies

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Corporate Communications, or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of continuous relevant experience

  • Commercial management

  • Business risk assessment

  • Business development expertise

Salary and Benefits:

  • Basic Salary: Negotiable with housing and transportation allowance.
