Job Summary
Oversees operations of the Mechanical Department, ensuring projects meet safety, quality, and budgetary targets. Monitors financial performance to address gaps and supports overall company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day mechanical department operations, on board and in workshops, adhering to procedures.
- Prepare and manage annual manpower, operational, and capital budgets.
- Oversee logistics of raw materials, equipment, resources, and administration processes.
- Set production objectives, standards, and schedules to ensure timely project delivery.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and relevant authorities to address and resolve project matters.
- Optimise resource utilisation, ensuring cost control and productivity.
- Develop systems for tracking and monitoring productivity metrics.
- Lead personnel development, drive improvements, and implement change management.
- Ensure proper billing and reporting of all activities.
- Approve purchases of equipment, spares, and materials as required.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental policies.
- Promote employee well-being, adhere to safety protocols, and report concerns to maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications and Experience
- Qualifications: Degree/Diploma in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. A project management qualification is desirable.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in a shipyard or marine industry roles, with at least 3-4 years in managerial positions. Expertise in ship engines and machining tools is essential.
