ARMs client is recruiting for a PED (Performance, Efficiency & Drivability) principal engineer at one of the UK's leading EV companies (based in Coventry); an electric performance brand, determined to improve the society we live in.

About the role...

You will be responsible for running the PED attribute and PED attribute team, leading the performance and efficiency for products within the Vehicle Development team.

Lead the performance, efficiency, and driveability vehicle attribute and attribute team, with a focus on efficiency, range, charging, and performance.
Collaborate closely with the Vehicle Identity team in Sweden to deliver the driveability aspect of the attribute.
Deliver range certification for all markets in conjunction with the homologation team.
Set vehicle targets, define benchmarking plans, create timing plans and budgets against the DVP, develop and own test methods and requirements, and maintain overall responsibility for delivering vehicle targets to these plans and targets.
Support the development of virtual capability and delivery of simulations, driving collaborative virtual tool development.
Report out status at all levels of the business, make recommendations for strategic decisions, and feed into technical discussions on battery, propulsion, electrical, and chassis issues.
Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure robust issue resolution.
Work closely with suppliers and test facilities to ensure successful test activities.
Travel within the UK and Worldwide for testing will be required.

About you...

You will have a bachelor's degree or equivalent with relevant industry experience
Knowledge and experience in electric vehicle range certification, vehicle efficiency optimisation, and vehicle performance testing.
Leadership, team development, and people management skills and experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot problems and identify and lead teams to find solutions, applying innovative and creative approaches where required.
Experience of vehicle simulation tools and methods, including Matlab.
Good initiative, with the ability to plan and organise, and to manage own time and priorities.
A flexible approach to work, with a desire to thrive in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
Desirable: experience with vehicle testing including data logging and processing, and vehicle electrical networks and systems (CAN, Flexray, Ethernet).
