London based - hybrid working - 3 days a week onsite
Main purpose of the role;
The Credit Risk Business Analyst will act as the primary liaison between Credit Risk Management, Business Users, Project Managers and Technology teams to deliver strategic enhancements across the Credit Risk platform.
The successful candidate will be responsible for gathering and documenting business requirements, analysing Credit Risk processes, supporting regulatory change initiatives, and ensuring that business objectives are translated into effective technology solutions.
The role requires strong knowledge of Credit Risk concepts including Potential Future Exposure (PFE), Counterparty Credit Risk, Collateral Management, Netting, Exposure calculations and Risk Reporting. The individual will work closely with Risk Managers and global technology teams to support the ongoing evolution of the firm's Credit Risk infrastructure.
The candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent stakeholder management capabilities, and a detailed understanding of investment banking products and Credit Risk processes.
The candidate should have a solid understanding of financial products such as IR Derivatives, Mortgage Backed Securities, Repos, Stock Borrow Lending and Ageny Lending.
Previous experience working within Credit Risk, Market Risk, Middle Office Risk Technology or Regulatory Change programmes is highly desirable.
Requirements :
Business Analysis & Project Delivery
- Extensive experience performing Business Analysis within Investment Banking environments.
- Proven ability to gather, document and manage business requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Experience producing:
o Business Requirement Documents (BRDs)
o Functional Specification Documents (FSDs)
o User Stories
o Process Maps
o Gap Analysis Documents
o Data Mapping Specifications
o Test Plans and Test Scenarios
- Experience facilitating workshops with business and technology stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across Front Office, Middle Office, Risk and Technology functions.
- Experience supporting Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.
- Ability to coordinate deliveries across multiple development teams and geographical locations.
Credit Risk Knowledge
- Good understanding of Counterparty Credit Risk concepts.
- Strong knowledge of:
o Potential Future Exposure (PFE)
o Expected Exposure (EE)
o Exposure at Default (EAD)
o Wrong Way Risk
o Credit Limits
o Regulatory Capital
- Understanding of collateral, netting and margin agreements.
- Knowledge of exposure reconciliation processes.
- Understanding of Credit Risk reporting and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with risk simulation and pricing platforms such as S&P Global Financial Risk Analytics (FRA) is highly desirable.
Financial Products Knowledge
Proven understanding of:
- Interest Rate Derivatives
- FX Derivatives
- Credit Derivatives
- Repos
- Stock Borrow Lending (SBL)
- Agency Lending
- Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS)
- Bonds
- Equities
Understanding how these products impact Credit Risk exposure calculations is essential.
Data & Technology Knowledge
- Strong understanding of data analysis and data lineage.
- Experience analysing large datasets using SQL.
- Ability to perform data reconciliation and root cause analysis.
- Understanding of system integration and risk architecture.
- Working knowledge of:
o SQL Server
o Azure platforms
o APIs
o Messaging architectures
o Batch processes
o Data feeds
- Ability to communicate effectively with Development, Infrastructure and Architecture teams.
Testing & Change Management
- Experience managing User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Experience defining test scenarios and acceptance criteria.
- Ability to coordinate business sign-off activities.
- Strong defect management and issue tracking experience.
- Experience supporting production releases and change management processes.
Key responsibilities:
- Engage with Credit Risk stakeholders to understand business requirements and strategic objectives.
- Analyse current Credit Risk processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Produce high-quality business and functional requirements documentation.
- Work closely with development teams to clarify business requirements and support solution design.
- Conduct data analysis and exposure reconciliations across risk systems.
- Support implementation of regulatory and business-driven Credit Risk initiatives.
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder meetings and requirements-gathering sessions.
- Define and coordinate UAT activities and business sign-offs.
- Track requirements through delivery and ensure traceability from design to implementation.
- Assist with production issue investigation and root cause analysis.
- Coordinate with global teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support change management, training and user adoption activities.

- Credit Risk domain expertise.

- Process mapping and workflow analysis.

- Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Experience working within front-to-back risk platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Experience
- S&P Global Financial Risk Analytics (fraimWRX) platform.
- Credit Risk or Market Risk technology projects.
- Regulatory change programmes.
- Exposure and collateral management systems.
- Azure-based risk platforms.
- Experience working within global banking organisations.
Experience working with Murex would be an advantage
