Principal Accountabilities:

The key accountabilities of the Engineering Database Management (EDM) function are to control new part number allocation and an indented BoM (Bill of Materials,) structure for all projects ensuring accurate BoM roll up functionality for product cost and weight. In addition, the function ensures that Engineering releases are correctly documented and recorded in the BoM.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Company's Design, Engineering and Technical Procurement functions to ensure the data is accurate with regards to part specification, weight, quantity, and cost.
  • To be a coordinator between Engineering (DODM) and Workshop.
  • Create Workshop Request Sheet (WRS) when requested by the workshop and send it to them.
  • Check if all the details are correct in the WRS and EBoM, cross-check, and liaise with the EDM team for accurate data and if there are any discrepancies.
  • Create and maintain a WRS status tracker and work in-line with the EDM to make it easier to track part status for WRS.
  • Feed all the data from the EBoM to the ERP system (IFS) on a regular basis and assist the IFS team in keeping it updated.
  • Check the part list on a regular basis and release the parts in the IFS which are released asper 3DX extracted EBoM.
  • Liaise with IFS team, EDM, and other functions to keep the system and tracker updated.
  • Supporting in the EDM and other team activities during the not-so-busy times as requested.
  • Support the development and implementation of a PLM and ERP systems.
  • To monitor system efficiency and propose changes to improve working functionality.
  • Carry out any other duties that may be requested of you.

Qualification and Experience:

It is anticipated that you will have at least 3 years' experience in the relevant automotive industry and have evident experience working within a demanding team environment.

You will be expected to have a solid understanding of design standards, material standards and engineering drawing standards. A good working knowledge of whole vehicle design is essential.

In addition, the following attributes are expected.

  • Proven success in applying design standards in automotive or other applicable industries.
  • Experience of coordinating with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Clear and effective communication
  • Relevant experience in MS Office and document management.
  • Data management experience is a must.
  • Knowledge of 3D Experience and/or IFS a distinct advantage.

Miscellaneous:

  • To perform any other duties that may well be expected within the remit of the role.
  • To ensure compliance with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policy requirements within areas of responsibility.
  • In addition to the above responsibilities for Gordon Murray Design, the job also involves similar duties to be conducted for any future subsidiary companies within the Gordon Murray Group.
