This is a contract position, running through to January 2025, with the potential to extend.
Outside IR35.
Hybrid working available.
Role & Responsibilities
- Setting and delivering whole vehicle weight targets utilising sound engineering knowledge, lightweight technology trends, BoM weight roll-ups and vehicle/part measurement.
- Managing own project-related activities including creating and presenting reports to Senior Management.
- Planning and managing programmes, leading weight reduction work-streams, working in close cooperation with other functions to ensure achievement of weight targets.
- Constructively challenging & influencing engineering departments to deliver targets.
- Calculating Vehicle weight and mass properties (Centre of Gravity and Moment of Inertias) using a variety of methods and data sources.
- Contributing to the calculation of certification weights for cross-functional agreement, based on multiple data sources and relevant legislation
- Competitor bench marking (including technologies used) and attribute target-setting
Essential skills
- Experience of building strong collaborative and influential relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of CAD and Bill of Materials / spec configuration systems.
- Strong understanding of lightweight technologies and technology trends.
- Strong MS Office skills, including Macro writing.
- Demonstrable knowledge of weight certification requirements for European and global markets.
