We have an exciting position that has just come in with one of the biggest Defence Clients in the UK. You will be working on an upcoming large programme, where you will be responsible for ensuring the System that is safe, compliant, and fit for use.
What you'll be doing:
Ensuring that the Combat Systems design meets the Wholeship requirements
Supporting the Combat Systems Technical Authority (CSTA) in the acceptance associated with key milestones, including factory, shore and ship based trials
Providing engineering leadership to the Combat Systems delivery teams in the definition of maintenance of the Combat Systems physical, functional and transverse design and its delivery to final acceptance
Supporting the CSTA in the production of safety documentation for the Wholeship Safety and Environmental case
Ensuring Combat System design consistency and coherence and supporting the CSTA in producing the Certificates of Design
Facilitating independent reviews of engineering design and integration as part of the project Design Assurance process
Essential skills:
Hands-on knowledge of Combat Systems and/or the Mission System, or similar
Experience of large naval ship or Defence projects and an understanding of the risks inherent within Whole Ship integration and the challenges posed by the marine environment
Ability to constructively challenge as a leader
Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership
Ability to identify all the design and integration issues involved in their area of responsibility
Understanding of the companies engineering and commercial requirements
Recognition of the legislative requirements, particularly concerning safety and the environment
Networking experience
