We are looking for a Software Development Manager to join the SMCS Team. You'll support the Submarine command team in ensuring the Submarine fulfils its mission objectives such as - Tactical picture generation and management, weapon management Oceanography and on-board training facilities for the command team.

You'll also be responsible for -
You'll work in consultation with the Submarine Command System (SMCS) Engineering Manager, scope and plan all activities within the remit of the SMCS Software Team
You'll work with the Software Team Leaders to plan, estimate and schedule all detailed activities within their respective Programmes
Providing resource solutions for each Programme, balancing priorities as required whilst ensuring staff are appropriately loaded
With support from S/W Team Leaders, drive development and testing of SMCS functional capability, within budget, quality and timescale constraints.
Bringing your experience to own and constantly improve the software estimating activity. Ensure appropriate metrics are recorded and used for current and future improvements
Maintaining all relevant Software Plans (documents) ensuring updates are made in accordance with Programme requirements

Key Skills we will look for -
Have significant experience in engineering or a defence related industry
Have the ability to operate in a large, complex multi project environment
Have substantial experience of managing software-intensive, complex real-time systems
Have experience within a Naval Combat Systems Development Environment
