Senior Nuclear Design Engineer in Reading, Berkshire

Role Details:

• 12-Months Contract
• Negotiable Rate

The Energy Division at ARM are currently recruiting an experienced Senior Nuclear Design Engineer to join Nuclear Defence client, to be based out of Aldermaston, Reading.

Some of your duties will include:

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the relevant legislation, standards and documentation associated with design of pressure services.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the analysis techniques and tools used for substantiation of pressure vessels and associated equipment.
• Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality.
• Produce technical design and substantiation documentation to support the delivery of the V6X Vessel Services work package.
• Support production of technical specifications for outsourced work packages.
• Review and check analysis and design work provided by suppliers.
• Provide tasking information to the Lead Engineer to support project planning.

What do you need to succeed?

Essential:

• Knowledge of pressure regulations
• Working knowledge of at least one of the following analysis types:
• Implicit FEA
• Explicit FEA
• Pressure equipment substantiation to ASME BPVC, PD5500 or similar.
• Knowledge of explosively loaded vessel design and/or blast loading.
• HNC/HND Qualification/relevant engineering discipline

Desirable:

• Able to deliver design work to support a Nuclear Site Licence, specifically conditions: LC19 Construction or Installation of New Plant; LC20 Modifications to Design of Plant Under Construction and/or LC 22 Modification or Experiment on Existing Plant Experience
• Petro-chem industry background would be advantageous.
