Senior Network Engineer - Teddington - Hybrid

A member of the Cyber security Infrastructure and Networks team responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of connectivity services.

The role is working within a group of skilled engineers responsible for all systems which underpin the infrastructure and connectivity to provide secure operational services for the organisation. In offers exposure to a wide range of responsibilities as well as the opportunity to focus on specific technology areas. It is assumed that this senior level role will play an important role in training and developing staff from Service Desk and Service Delivery areas.

About You

• Work with stakeholders to determine business requirements for network solutions or changes to existing services
• Implement network improvements and manage changes to support all users with minimal downtime
• Ensure information assets are protected from attack through management of firewalls and other security technologies
• Monitor the network ensuring faults are resolved with minimum disruption to the business
• Manage and report on network utilisation and performance of wired and wireless infrastructure
• Create and maintain projects and operational documentation relating to the LAN/WAN infrastructure
• Develop knowledge, skills and experience associated with the area of specialism and stay up to date with network, communications, and security changes in the marketplace
• Build relationships and manage external parties providing infrastructure and connectivity support
• Provide knowledge transfer to Service Delivery teams.

Key Experience:

• Extensive experience in supporting large campus layer-2 networks
• Experience with Allied Telesis EPSR Ring topologies
• Experience with Allied Telesis network management tools AMF Vista
• Experience in Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise switching and Omnivista management
• Experience in Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Stellar Wi-Fi networks
• Demonstrable knowledge of experience with OSPF, BGP, VRFs
• Experience with Next Gen Firewalls (Preferably Fortinet) and VPN
• Knowledge of basic network security concepts such as NAC, 802.1x
• Knowledge of Network Segmentation systems (Preferably Forescout)
• Knowledge of protocols used in resilient systems e.g. VRRP, LACP, Virtual-Chassis
• Undertaken data centre network hardware installation and maintenance
• Basic knowledge of Mikrotik RouterOS
