My client, a government body, are looking for a Security Cleared Senior Engineer to join their fast-paced team on an initial 6-month contract.

They are looking for an experienced SW Engineer in the Java/Microservices/Middleware space to join our growing practice.

The role requires a hands-on coder across the front-end Java Script (REAC, Node JS or Angular), Java (Spring Framework) and experience in middleware configuration/Coding i.e., API, Business Logic and data virtualisation.

The Engineer will form part of an agile team and will participates in the coding of front end and middleware applications. The Engineer will work with architects to prototype new concepts to for Proof-of Concepts to aid decision making and implementing framework code for them and the rest of the team to take forward. First and foremost, they are responsible for ensuring their code is delivered to a high level of quality with a focus on testing, performance and maintainability.

In this role, you will be a member of the delivery capability, you will be primarily responsible for:
Documenting and demonstrating solutions by developing documentation, reviewing and delivering code.
Delivery of high-quality work results (structure, content, form)
Collaboration with team to brainstorm and create new products
Constant development and optimization of the local development environment
Support of the team with technical and business problems, knowledge distribution
Sketch solutions and prototypical implementation
Participate in the agile development process with the team
Support the creation of technical user stories
Implement framework/skeleton code to drive direction of the proof of concepts
Make low level design decisions (or prepare solution variants for team decisions) and document them
Identification of necessary changes (technologies, tool selection, etc.) in coordination with the Devops Engineers, DBAs and architects
Working with architects/designers to ensure design decisions are optimal and can be delivered by the team
Configuration of API and business logic to link application code to relational data

In order to be successful in this role, you will have proven experience in and a solid understanding of most of the following:
Delivering integration micro-service patterns using Java Springboot
Applying SOLID principles and creating clean code
Experience working with middleware e.g. business logic, API management, data virtualisation and messaging/streaming features
API specification/design and documentation
Working with SQL and NoSQL data sources such as Postgres and Mongo
Experience with DevOps tooling and application hosting services such as:
Strong cloud knowledge i.e. Azure and AWS
Ideally a Certified Kubernetes Application Developer
Ideally knowledge of FE Javascript framework e.g. React
Experience in coding of configuring business log functions
Great attention to detail, organisational skills and an analytical mind

General Experience
Experienced in consulting and ability to cope with pressured environments.
Senior/Lead Engineer experience
Demonstrable professional software development experience over many full lifecycle deliveries
Proven experience as Senior Microservices Developer
