About the Role:
The Energy Division at ARM is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (Building Services) to join our Global Engineering and Design Consultancy, working on projects within the nuclear sector with the option to work at one of three sites.
Some of your Duties will include.
- Ensuring comprehension of project briefs is achieved.
- Designing and specifying all Electrical Building Services systems, which include power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, and lightning protection.
- Performing and overseeing the production of detailed calculations using industry-standard software tools like Excel, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and in-house developed tools
- Creating technical specifications using NBS
- Collaborating with the BIM team to create models and drawings, with a working knowledge of Auto desk Revit
- Representing Atkins in meetings with clients and contractors
- Conducting site surveys, inspections, and monitoring of site works
- Writing reports and technical notes
- Maintaining comprehensive records and archives in accordance with company standards
- Adhering to all quality, environmental, and governance processes
- Managing one's workload, regularly updating the forward plan, and adhering to time allocations.
- Managing aspects of project delivery and possessing an understanding of budget costings
- Reviewing progress and reporting any anomalies or changes in scope to the project lead
- Assisting in the technical development of junior staff members.
What do need to succeed?
- Chartered Engineer with CIBSE or IET qualification in Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Proficient in using multiple software tools, including Amtech/Prodesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS, and Microsoft packages. Knowledge of HV tools is advantageous.
- Familiarity with energy reduction strategies and approaches for decarbonising new and existing buildings
- Some understanding of energy-related contracts and funding mechanisms like SALIX
- Knowledge of data capture and analytics for energy and carbon-related measurements
- Awareness of building physics principles, such as passive design solutions and fabric-first approaches
- Competency in designing for measurement and verification, including experience in commissioning, and evaluating performance post-installation.
- Work experience in a design consultancy and/or contracting design environment is essential.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant technical standards
- Capable of taking responsibility for project deliverable, making decisions, and working proactively
- Strong report writing skills, with experience in presenting to and attending meetings with clients.
- Comfortable working within agreed time and cost budgets set during project briefings.
