Junior Nuclear Safety Consultant

ARM are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Junior Nuclear Safety Consultant to work with a large scale consultancy in the Nuclear industry.

What you'll be doing

The role will entail providing safety assurance support during the design, construction, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. You will support the client in managing nuclear safety and ensuring compliance with the Site Licence Conditions and you will typically be trained and involved in supporting a range of safety assurance activities which include the following:

• Hazard/fault identification studies, HAZOP, FMEA for example.
• Qualitative and Quantitative Hazard Assessments.
• Radiological Hazard Assessments.
• Probabilistic Safety Assessments.
• Safety report production.
• Support to Engineering Substantiation activities.
• Development and review of Safety management arrangements.
• Producing nuclear technology technical reports.

What do you need to succeed?

• Honours Degree (or equivalent) in physics, engineering or a closely related discipline (2:1 minimum).
• Be able to demonstrate an understanding of good engineering judgement and using fundamental engineering skills.
• A keen interest in safety case production and hazard analysis, with some experience within the nuclear and defence industry.
• Understand the need for high quality reports and delivered output and be able to work within a strong performing team.
• Motivated and driven to support delivery targets without compromising quality.
• Willingness and desire to join an existing nuclear safety assurance team and develop into the future leaders in the discipline.
