With multiple sites in Shalford, Dunfold, Warwick and a new purpose-built HQ on its way in Windlesham, the Gordon Murray Group continues to grow with multiple vehicle programmes currently in development. As a result, we currently have exciting opportunities for a proven Commodity Manager to join our Direct Purchasing Team based in Shalford.
The role of the Commodity Manager - Powertrain is to ensure delivery on time, to the right quality at the right cost all materials within the responsibility of the commodity. This is to be done through strategic supplier selection, supplier resourcing, cost down, total cost optimisation and supplier development through quality and delivery improvements. The secondary purpose is to motivate and develop direct reports to achieve best practice in terms of supply chain management whilst influencing the wider business in support of Company Key Goals
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Development and implementation of procurement commodity strategies.
- Management of a commercial procurement team.
- Responsible for setting SMART objects to your team with quarterly reviews as well as providing weekly reports and KPI's.
- Deliver best practice results within the function of Supply Chain.
- Leading cross functional teams across supplier development, material control and any other functions required to resolve supply chain issues and implement strategic goals. development of the function in support of Company Key
- Assist in day to day running of the Purchasing Department and all activities associated with it.
Experience & Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably with CIPS qualification.
- Proven team leader or management experience.
- Extensive Procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Broad spectrum of negotiation and general purchasing experience with industry knowledge and implementation of automotive best practice.
- Experience in manufacturing of fast-moving consumer goods and general engineering.
- Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients.
- Proficiency in cross functional, cross company, and cross-sectional processes.
- Works well under pressure and has a passion for delivering objectives.
- Computer literate - Microsoft office suite and previous experience with an ERP system would be beneficial.
- Resourceful attitude with flexible and proactive approach.
- Proven track record for project management.
- Must be a team player.
Miscellaneous:
- To perform any other duties that may well be reasonably expected within the remit of the role.
- To ensure compliance with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policy requirements within areas of responsibility.
- In addition to the above responsibilities for Gordon Murray Design, the job also involves similar duties to be conducted for any future subsidiary companies within the Gordon Murray Group.
