The Job
Within the PMO team, this is a senior job. All conventional Project Manager requirements are retained, but the role also includes: - participation in the strategic direction and ongoing enhancement of the PMO team - allocation of resources and the ability to manage direct reports or mentor and set an example to others within the team - closer contribution with sales strategies, capture planning, and maximising potential opportunities from a PMO viewpoint, with the associated interaction with important Customers during the sales process.
Main Responsibilities
* You must have sufficient experience providing project management excellence for a technological product in a technical setting, from concept to prototyping, testing, and production.
* Commercial awareness, as well as expertise interacting with customers and understanding their demands.
* Utilisation of project management software technologies such as SAP and ERP systems. A practical familiarity of JIRA tools is preferred.
* Leads people around them and provides a good example for other project managers and project team members to follow.
* Knowledgeable with project management methodologies such as Critical Path, Agile, and Pert Analysis
* Knowledge of project life-cycle management and risk and opportunity management.
* Have prior expertise with government contracts and the project delivery gateway techniques that go with them.
* Degree level (or equivalent) in a technical related subject, or relevant practical experience.
* Professional project/programme management qualifications such as APMP, PRINCE 2 or UK MoD - Acquisition Employment Trained would be an advantage
