Press Officer in Southwark, London

Press Officer -Southwark (Hybrid) - 6 Month Contract - £19 per hour (inside IR35)

Advanced Resource Managers are looking for a Press Officer to join their Transport client in London on a 6-month interim basis

To be successful in this position, you will need to be an experienced Press Officer, with extensive Media Relations experience.

Responsibilities

• Deal with media relations and respond to requests and queries.
• Handle press briefings, interviews, statements, and other ad hoc duties
• Liaise with national and international journalists.
• Act as first point of contact for media on proactive and reactive issues affecting company reputation.
• Inform senior leaders about any media issues
• Drafting of media statements, news releases and briefings for approval by line managers and senior stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with other Comms teams across the business and other bodies to ensure consistencies across all comms channels.
• Arrange media events and visits.
• Organise media interviews and brief seniors on likely areas of questioning.
• Note take or record interviews to ensure accurate press reporting, as well as liaise with media on any follow up questions.

Requirements

• Excellent knowledge of all media sectors and media relations techniques
• Working knowledge of currently PR and Media technologies, including digital and social media.
• High-quality written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to deal with potentially aggressive and hostile questioning from the media and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively across the business, as well as on your own initiative.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
