ARMs client is recruiting for a Planning Engineer ; they will be responsible for developing, agreeing and delivering detailed planning requirements and concerns closure for a specific Manufacturing Zone / Technology from Pre-series through series production to EOP.
The Production Planning Engineer must deliver to the agreed Quality, Cost and Delivery targets whilst ensuring Health and Safety, IATF16949 and VW Standards compliance.

About the role...

1. Technical

a. Where applicable the Planning Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Manufacturing Feasibility is evaluated in line with PEP.
b. Responsible for delivery of Quality Planning (APQP) processes and activities in Pre-series and Series Production ensuring internal and external audit compliance.
c. Responsible for manufacturing sign-off of Bid specs and product B-release in-line with project timings and PEP deliverables.
d. Identification of Facility, Jig, Fixture and Tooling requirements
e. Ensure continual updating of technical knowledge. E.g. Liaison with Group Colleagues, Benchmarking, Training etc.
f. Responsible for developing the settings/parameters of equipment and process
g. Responsible for implementing engineering change introduction within their zones
h. Management of permits and concessions
i. Lead the resolution of issues (EG: Feasibility, Process, Build Issues, Fixtures and tools) using the appropriate problem solving techniques and resources. Drive resolution through cross functional working, influencing others to deliver resolutions where necessary.

2. Financial

a. Delivery of processes within agreed budget targets
b. Management of cost risks
c. Supporting justification for Capital Expenditure Investment
d. Supporting Process improvement workshop activities to achieve production time targets.
e. Lead cost saving activities to reduce operating expense

3. Planning

a. Concurrence of responses to Business requirements, Engineering change & technical documentation (e.g. TCD and AEKO/ECR etc).
b. Generation of deliverable milestones & monitoring detailed Project plans
c. Work in close conjunction with and influence other areas of Manufacturing (launch, Logistics, Production and facilities) to ensure a consolidated approach and the continuous development of effective and efficient ways of working
d. Work cross-functionally and influence changes within products and processes.
e. Work in conjunction with Mulliner to deliver bespoke vehicle production via the technology.
f. Responsible for the analysis of specific technology measurements and controls.

4. Project Management

a. Delivery of all projects in accordance with Business requirements (Quality, Cost and Timing) and alignment with PEP
b. Pro-active avoidance or containment of Project risks
c. Maintaining Key Performance Metrics and coordinate activities to resolve concerns and issues affecting achievement of technology targets

5. Local Responsibilities

a. Other responsibilities specific to the function/ area (in conjunction with skills matrix/ MBO objectives).

About you...

? Technically competent in product assembly, process design, facilities and standardised work methodology.
? Demonstrable experience at cross functional working within a Manufacturing or Production environment.
? Good working knowledge / experience of processes and business legislation (inc. Health & Safety).
? Is able to provide technical support to the production teams.
? Demonstrates strong communication and influencing skills at all levels across the business.
? Experience in the application of Continuous Improvement and problem solving tools and techniques.

PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

? Technically competent in product manufacturing processes, Group and business processes, process design and standardised work.
? Experience in the practical application of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques.
? Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and measurement data.
? Knowledge of key Health & Safety regulations.
? Ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation.
? Ability to be involved in cross functional teams and projects to achieve business improvement.
? Knowledge of the Product Emergence Process and gateway deliverables.
? Extensive practical knowledge in Problem Solving Techniques
? An Understanding of dimensional management analysis
? Ability to Evaluate K and P times in line with Manufacturing Business Strategy
? An understanding of measurement techniques
? Knowledge of dry builds and properties strategy
? Extensive knowledge of vehicle build processes

QUALIFICATIONS

? Higher National Qualification with relevant and demonstrable manufacturing experience,
or
? Equivalent Degree level (preferably Engineering / Manufacturing / science).
