Due to aggressive growth plans, it is currently looking to recruit an Exterior Technical Project Leader within the Exterior Engineering team reporting into the Chief Engineer.

You are considered an expert in the field of Automotive Exterior and keen to take your next step into an ambitious and exciting OEM
You have 10+ years of experience in Automotive Exterior and have demonstrated your ability to deliver highly complex systems and sub systems into a premium OEM
You are degree qualified or have relevant industrial experience in Automotive or similar fields
You have led, developed, and managed teams of your own already and looking to take on a new challenge in an exciting start up environment
You have excellent technical understanding of a variety of Exterior systems with a natural ability to lead and inspire those around you to deliver in the most challenging of circumstances
You actively challenge the norm and are keen to do things differently. Do things better. Not just do things 'because that's how we have always done them'.
You have created engineering budgets and justified them to senior management. You have a proven track record of delivering to the budgets you have written.
You have excellent understanding of different automotive New Product Development Systems and processes and can understand and identify which elements are most critical to Exterior's delivery as a part of the whole vehicle
You understand digital toolsets including FEA and have an excellent understanding of how to use these toolsets to deliver quality results
You can work proactively with minimal support using a logical approach in an environment with minimal documented processes
You can think creatively to solve feasibility issues
You have a proven ability to work to deadlines and prioritise your own workload

The Role:

Overall responsibility for the whole Exterior for a new vehicle top hat, from initial design through to production covering Quality, Cost and Delivery. You will work closely with the Exterior commodity Principal Engineers and their teams to deliver the overall technical delivery according to the Vehicle Technical Specification and Product Guide. Working as part of the overall cross functional vehicle team you will support management meetings, regular resource and budget reviews with the Chief Engineer and liaise directly with the Head of Vehicle function.

You will have overall responsibility for the delivery of the Exterior ensuring it meets quality demands, commercial requirements and timing constraints - as part of the wider Exterior management team.
You will chair meetings within the team, drive results and report out at appropriate external meetings and gateway events.
You will be part of creating the overall budget and managing to it, including justifying changes when needed and delivering challenges to your Principal Engineer counterparts.
You will be mediator of the Exterior to Exterior technical issues between the different commodities and manage external teams to ensure Exterior are able to deliver on our requirements.
Ensure delivery of all engineering quality documentation including BOM, DFMEA, DVP, APQP, PSW (support) are consistent and on time across the groups.
Work closely with purchasing to manage their timeline and ensure all suppliers meet all aspects of QCD.
Manage the work load of function group program managers and co-ordinators within the team.
Provide regular report outs to the Chief Engineer to ensure on time delivery and consistency is achieved across all Exterior programs.

Required Skills & Experience:

10+ years working in Automotive Exterior
Experience with Microsoft Office applications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal & organisational skills, with good attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Able to work in start-up environment
A Design or Engineering Degree (Other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience will be considered).
