Our client is searching for a Principal Design engineer who Is looking to excel in a new Electrical Design team.
Being part of the Design team:
You will be working in the Electrical Designer team, designing and integrating 3D modelling of various electrical systems and compartment integration of electrical equipment. As part of the team, you will also produce a bill of materials for your specific area in the submarine design.
As a Principal Designer you will be responsible for:
* Working with the client to produce an integrated design that meets their expectations and agreed set of requirements.
* Using the CAD tool to produce 3D models of electrical systems and equipment integration.
* Producing 2D drawing outputs to a demanding schedule to support the manufacturing and production teams in product build and delivery.
* Provided the challenge of working with the stakeholder group to drive the successful resolution of design vs spatial problems.
* Maturing the 3D model and producing 2D drawing outputs
* Developing and maintaining working relationships with interfacing teams and team members
* Provide expertise of own discipline to teams
* To act as a focal point for discipline specific tasks ensuring best practices are adopted.
Essential skills and experiences:
* Relevant engineering qualification or previous experience as an Electrical Designer/Draughtsperson/ Electrician or HNC/NVQ Electrical Designer qualification
* Sufficient experience to be able to identify all the issues involved in their area of responsibility.
* A comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing, assembly, commissioning and testing processes used within the business.
Desirable skills:
* Submarine or shipbuilding product knowledge from an electrical discipline perspective
* Experience and knowledge of a CAD toolset 2D Drawing & 3D Modelling
This role requires UK Government Clearance
