Engineer - Vehicle Body Systems and Architecture Design - Shalford
Departmental Responsibilities:
- Ownership of the 3D definition of the full vehicle
- Responsibility for the vehicle architectural design
- Occupant positioning
- Ownership of the section book
- 3D package modelling
- Manage interface with styling
- Engineering responsibility (including design and release) of full vehicle body systems:
- Structures, Panels, Closures, Glazing, Sealing, Lighting, Wiper Systems, NVH
- Engineering responsibility (including design and release) of full vehicle interior systems:
- Fascia, Tunnel, Seating, Restraints, Trim panel , Instrument and controls, Door trim, Trunk Systems, HVAC
- Design for manufacture and assembly for responsible components
- Ensuring responsible designs meet legal compliance
- Work Package Management
- Design Sizing Analysis
- Sub system load analysis
- Joints and interface design
- Materials selection
- Fixing selection justification with appropriate bolt calculations
General Characteristics:
- Develops increased knowledge and skills most likely within the set of responsibilities show below
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assignments of limited complexity
- Collaboratively uses judgement to determine adaptions to standard practices
- Undertakes leadership of small work packages
- Possesses effective oral and written communication skills
- Assists with customer communications associated with specific assignments
- Interacts with contractors
- Associate Member of professional practice organisation
- Involved with outreach activities focuses towards schools and education (e.g. STEM)
Responsibilities:
- Undertakes defined assignments
- Develops workflows to deliver assignments
- Prepares portions of project documentation (models, drawings, reports etc.)
- Assists on a wide variety of tasks across departments and functions as required
- Identify and highlight any areas for continuous improvement
- Ensure that your technical knowledge and expertise is kept up to date
- To perform any other duties that may well be reasonably expected within the remit of the role
- To ensure compliance with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policy requirements within areas of responsibility
Gordon Murray Design Group of Companies:
In addition to the above responsibilities for Gordon Murray Design, the job also involves similar duties to be conducted for any future subsidiary companies within the Gordon Murray Design Group.
