Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor

Location: A47 - Norwich
Rate: £400 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract: December 2026 end

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to support a major highways infrastructure project on the A47 near Norwich.

The project includes the development of the new layout at Thickthorn, including a single-lane free-flowing link road connecting the A11 northbound to the A47 eastbound via two underpasses beneath the A11 and A47.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced safety professional to work within a collaborative project environment, providing expert advice and helping to drive high standards of health, safety and wellbeing across the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure company Health, Safety & Wellbeing policies, procedures and statutory requirements are implemented across project operations.

  • Provide practical health and safety advice to operational and functional management.

  • Undertake regular site SHW inspections and participate in audits and formal inspections.

  • Maintain the project's health and safety competency matrix.

  • Provide advice on the assessment and appointment of subcontractors.

  • Support the preparation of tenders, presentations and external submissions where required.

  • Advise on the preparation and review of SHW risk assessments and method statements.

  • Monitor project SHW performance and produce relevant reports for senior management.

  • Assist with the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences, ensuring appropriate close-out actions are completed.

  • Promote and support the Injury Free Environment (IFE) programme across the project.

  • Assist with the development and delivery of SHW training, including site inductions.

  • Provide guidance to project teams on health, safety and wellbeing matters.

  • Support liaison with the HSE and other enforcing authorities.

  • Promote best practice, innovation and continuous improvement across the project.

  • Maintain professional knowledge, competency and relevant qualifications/memberships.

  • Work effectively to deadlines within a fast-paced and dynamic project environment.

What You'll Achieve

Working closely with the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager, you will help ensure full compliance with operational health, safety and wellbeing requirements while promoting a positive safety culture across the project.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience within a Health, Safety & Wellbeing role.

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate, NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent NVQ qualification.

  • Experience within construction, highways, infrastructure or another high-risk industry is desirable.

  • GradIOSH, AIEMA or equivalent professional qualification/membership.

  • A full UK driving licence.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to provide advice to project teams and management.

  • The ability to work collaboratively while maintaining high standards of health and safety.

  • A proactive approach to identifying risks and driving improvements.
