RF Design Engineer in Romsey, Hampshire

ContractA leading Defence client of ours based in Romsey is currently in the market for an RF Design Engineer to come on board and work on a new project kicking off in May 2024. They are looking for a candidate who has 10+ years of experience in RF system design & development in the HF/VHF band.
The RF Design Engineer will:
* Contribute to and lead the design, development, integration and testing as required by the project within the knowledge and experience required.
* Produce high-quality supporting design documentation.
* Contribute expertise across a broad range of design activities.
* Develop innovative and cutting-edge solutions.
* The RF Design Engineer will be responsible to:
* Undertake engineering design and development activities in time, on budget and in quality.
* Provide timely and accurate estimates of effort to completion, assessing complexity, and identifying risks.
* Engage with other technical experts.
* Provide technical support to the Technical Lead (e.g., risk management, input to customer meetings).
* Proactively communicate and collaborate with each of the stakeholder, within or outside the project team.
* Comply with the internal design and development processes as directed by the Technical Lead of the project.
* Apply industry best practice for source code control, build, test/troubleshooting (debugging/fault finding), and distribution.
Essential Skills:
* The candidate must have ACTIVE DV (Developed vetting) Clearance.
* Expertise in selecting select COTS for integration into an RF design of HF/VHF system as:
- Power Amplifirer
- RF power switch
- LNAs
- Antenna
* Expertise in antennas matching (e.g., impedance, analysis of VSWR, performance optimization for wideband operation)
* Expertise in Power Amplifier design, from 1W through 10kW
* Expertise in RF simulation using AWR Microwave Office
* Expertise in performing Radiation Hazard analysis.
* Expertise in preparing Level Plans
* Expertise using of RF high-power system test equipment (e.g., VNA, spectrum analysers, signal sources, power meter)
