Welder/Plater Chargehand - Hinkley Point C
Employer: Advanced Resource Managers (ARM)

Contract : 6 Months fixed Term
Working with: The UK's Largest Structural Steel Fabricator

At Advanced Resource Managers, we are delighted to offer an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Welder/Plater Chargehand to join the team at Hinkley Point C, working with the UK's largest structural steel fabricator.

This role sits within the Nuclear & Infrastructure division, which delivers high-profile, highly regulated projects across nuclear, transport, power, and process industries.


The Role

As a Welder/Plater Chargehand, you will lead a team of skilled operatives on-site, ensuring all installation works are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently. Acting as the vital link between the workforce and site management, you will oversee day-to-day operations, ensure compliance with safety standards, and provide technical expertise to deliver exceptional results.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of welders and platers to meet quality and safety standards

  • Provide on-site technical advice and propose practical solutions where required

  • Review and approve technical and safety documentation

  • Ensure installations meet project designs, processes, and deadlines

  • Manage resource allocation to meet budget and time constraints

  • Supervise contractors and maintain a high-performing, safety-first culture

  • Ensure compliance with NNB permit-to-work processes

  • Attend site coordination meetings as required

  • Act as Incident Controller (IC) and Trauma & Medical Immediate Care (TMIC) responder when trained


Skills & Experience

  • HPC site experience (desirable)

  • Familiarity with data input systems (permits, progress tracking)

  • Strong leadership and team supervision skills

  • Safety- and quality-focused, leading by example

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • In-depth technical knowledge of welding and plating

  • Problem-solving and decision-making ability


Essential Qualifications

  • One of the following:

    • Level 3 Pipe Welder Apprenticeship Standard (ST0851)

    • Equivalent apprenticeship in welding discipline

    • Diploma in Welding Engineering Construction Pipework, Plate, or Both - SCQF L7

  • BS EN ISO 9606 Coded Welding Qualification

  • One of the following: LATS, SSSTS, IOSH Managing Safely
