PermanentJOB PURPOSE
The Web Developer is responsible for providing website development and SQL expertise for the web-based systems, related ancillary systems and the supporting infrastructure.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* At least 5 years' experience of architecting, developing and supporting web applications in enterprise environments. Educated to degree level in an IT related discipline.
* Good level of knowledge with HTML, CSS, PHP, jQuery and MySQL.
* Ideally experience using: Wider SQL knowledge (PostgreSQL, MS SQL, MongoDB etc) JavaScript, Bootstrap, REST, Git and IIS
* Proven delivery of enterprise solutions.
* Strong knowledge and experience of supporting and maintaining a SQL database server environment and associated database management.
* Excellent customer-service focus.
* Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving capabilities and time management skills.
* Good written and verbal communications skills.
* Must be prepared to keep abreast with new IT technologies, using training and personal development resources provided by the organisation.
* Experience of planning and managing implementation of changes to minimise adverse impacts on business users.
* Able to develop and maintain high-quality multi-level relationships with customers/suppliers.
* Ability to anticipate risks and proactively devise solutions.
* Able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility including shift and out of hours working.
* Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Take a business requirement from conception to implementation utilising the Uniface platform.
* Analyse user requirements recommending amendments where necessary. Define, specify and document requirements to enable specifications to be produced internally or to external suppliers.
* To identify project inter-dependencies within the overall IT project portfolio and recommend an appropriate delivery roadmap.
* Maintain high quality version control and appropriate associated documentation.
* Diagnose and resolve problems in a professional and timely manner.
* Provide 3rd line technical support to other members of the team.
* Create, update and maintain the technical knowledgebase and documentation of implementations.
* Install, configure and deploy code and software as required.
* Carry out project tasks as directed.
* Working closely with the Applications Manager and recommend improvements to systems.
* Provide support for PLA key systems 24 x 7
YOU WILL BE
* Able to evaluate situations, problems, and faults with systems quickly and efficiently and identify/implement solutions.
* Produce written reports, business requirements, proposals, project plans, system documentation & KPIs as required.
* Produce recommendations for improvement and ensure actions are followed through and completed in a timely manner.
* Produce project status reports and formal presentations when required.
* Track progress in system tools.
