Technical Superintendent – France – Permanent in Antibes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

We are currently working with an industry leading yacht management client, who takes care of some of the most fascinating superyachts globally. Our client offers services to clients from 12 offices around the world, supporting their clients with running their yachts and estates with safety and efficiency prioritized. Our client provides an excellent service in order to support people enjoy their luxurious assets. Our client is growing in size and they currently have a new Technical Superintendent position available.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* The successful TSI should demonstrate extensive experience as well as knowledge of engineering systems, as well as their maintenance and required safety management practices on board of large yachts and any other relevant vessels. The right candidate will have solid technical abilities and show motivation to learn and progress, as well as possess good administrative skills and financial acumen. One of the key priorities of this position is report writing and budget control.
* The Technical Superintendent will become the main point of contact towards all technical matters and provide technical support during emergencies. The TSI will also be fully integrated into and work alongside of the Client Service Team members, which is made of Fleet Yacht Managers as well as Account Managers, the Compliance Department and the Refit Project Managers; your responsibility will be to oversee the day-to-day technical requirements, handle insurance claims, perform or assist during ISM/ISPS/MLC internal audits on behalf of the Company. You will maintain yacht's Class & Flag certifications, attend onboard Class & Flag surveys for the yachts under your responsibility. The TSI will be following up on ISM Matters, Defects, Non-Conformities and Incidents which may be of technical nature whether in Engineering, Deck, Bridge, IT, Interior and Galley Departments.
* Running Cost Budgets - The Technical Superintendent's responsibility is to predict with accuracy all and any running costs which will relate to the technical operation of the ships, which includes but is not limited to Fuel and other technical consumables; spare parts required for any eventuality whilst operating in distant areas.
* The Technical Superintendent will be partly responsible for supporting the planning refit / maintenance periods. This will be in direct collaboration with the Refit Project Managers in order to ensure all and any information regarding any technical issues or planned maintenance of systems as well as ensuring all Flag & Class Surveys are planned for and the required technical work specifications are also included in the worklist and planning.

Technical Support Administration
* Technical Management throughout the operational life of a fleet of superyachts.
* Be supportive in case of systems failures, spares, as well as emergency response team coordination.
* Give general technical and commercial advice and guidance.
* Draft, establish and monitor the yacht's maintenance budgets in close collaboration with all the Yacht and Accounts Managers.
* Handle all the Yacht Insurance Claims of technical and physical damage nature.
* Regularly make periodical reports to the management as well as the owners.
* Provide support to other departments (e.g., accounts with accounting returns, budgets, fund requests, invoicing approvals, owner reports).
* Make sure that all ship certification and surveys for class, flag and international requirements are in correct order.

ISM - Compliance
* In direct collaboration with the Compliance department, you will acquire all correct interpretation of Class Rules as well as any other regulations for each vessel. You will monitor schedules for surveys and liaise with Class and Flag surveyors to plan maintenance work periods.
* You will promote the effective use of the PMS, whilst making sure it is updated with OEM, Class, Flag and Management requirements.
* You will be working with Compliance Managers and DPA to review reported non-conformities and defects; analysing as well as introducing measures to prevent any reoccurrence using direct discussion of root cause analysis with all the senior responsible crew members.
* You will undertake internal audits on-board for ISM Qualified Auditors, as well as perform Technical Inspections as part of the internal audits done by the Compliance Team, making sure all items that may be raised during external inspections are correctly reported as well as addressed in advance of Class and Flag audits.
* You will provide regular support and guidance in the event of system failures, spares and coordinate the emergency response team.

REFIT - Management
* You will be partly responsible for providing support for planning refits / maintenance periods. This will be a direct collaboration with the Refit Project Managers in order to make sure that all and any information regarding technical issues or PMS an all Class and Flag Survey are planned for and the required technical work specifications are including in the worklist and planning.

New Business
* You will be identifying any new opportunities through captains, shipyards, or any other means where company technical services may be beneficial.
* You will negotiate vendor and contractor rates for the company and the related fleet vessels.
* You will participate in any boat shows and industry events as applicable.

Other
* You will need knowledge and the ability to perform Condition Surveys and Pre-Purchase Surveys.

Profile / Skills / Qualifications
Engineer or extensive experience in a similar / relevant technical role.
Will have ideally spent extensive time at sea in a technical role, preferably on a superyacht, with in-depth maintenance experience and a firm understanding of other maritime engineering principles.
Will have Planned Maintenance system experience.
Will have extensive experience with ISM systems (ideally Auditor level), compliance and risk management, yacht maintenance organisation,
Will be willing to travel extensively (likely over 120 days annually) and be prepared to spend significant time in the Middle East during the fleets operational season.
Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
Must be proficient in reading/ writing/ speaking English
