Technical Superintendent (Ferries) - Permanent - Gourock / Agile Working

The UK's largest ferry operator in terms of ships and destinations served and one of the largest transport operators in Scotland is looking for a Technical Superintendent to join their busy team based in Gourock, Scotland.

Reporting to the Senior Technical Superintendent, and in conjunction with the corresponding Marine Superintendent(s), this role is responsible for the provision of compliant vessels for safe and efficient operations, and line management of the most senior engineer position on board vessels assigned for direct management.

As Technical Superintendent you and the Marine Superintendent will be the primary shore-based point of contact for the assigned vessels. You are required to provide dedicated support to the vessel on-board management team. Effectively communicating and coordinating with the Marine Superintendent and all other support elements within the Fleet Cell to define and progress any required actions to an effective conclusion.

It is also imperative, as the primary point of contact, that timely and effective communication of any issues which may impact the availability of the vessel, is provided to the Operations Team to allow them to effectively manage any potential impact on the commercial operation of the vessel, in line with agreed service level agreements.

In Summary, the Technical Superintendent must fully support the vessels under their direct management, providing maximum vessel availability, within budget, consistent with safe methods of operation through coordination of Fleet Cell resources whilst providing effective communication to the Operations team as the customer.

The requirements to be considered for this role are;

Qualifications;

* Preference would be an STCW III/2 Chief Engineer (no limitations), equivalent or higher qualification. Candidates with lower qualifications who can demonstrate knowledge and experience with Ro-Ro vessels would be considered.
* Understanding of vessel specifications and requirements
* Understanding of marine regulations, classification rules, guidance, industry best practice and quality standards
* Be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in all aspects of Ro-Ro vessel and marine operations, including technical maintenance and overhaul overhauls/dockings and projects.
* Be able to demonstrate experience of specification writing and budget planning.
* Be able to demonstrate an ability to foster close professional working relationships both internally and with external stakeholders.
* Be precise and thorough in their approach and promote continuous improvement across the team and functional areas.
