**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Safety Management:** Oversee and ensure the effective implementation of Safety Management Systems (SMS) in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
2. **Vessel Operations:** Supervise the operation and maintenance of Ro-Pax and Ro-Ro vessels, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and optimizing vessel performance.
3. **Team Leadership:** Lead and mentor a team of marine personnel, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
4. **HSE Compliance:** Bring your significant Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) experience to the role, actively participating in risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety drills.
5. **Regulatory Compliance:** Stay current with maritime regulations, liaising with relevant authorities, and ensuring that all vessels meet statutory requirements.
6. **Emergency Response:** Develop and implement emergency response plans, conduct drills, and coordinate responses to maritime emergencies effectively.
7. **Budget Management:** Collaborate with the finance team to manage the marine department's budget, optimizing cost-efficiency without compromising safety.
8. **Performance Monitoring:** Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for vessel operations, crew performance, and safety metrics, taking corrective actions as needed.
9. **Documentation and Reporting:** Maintain accurate records of vessel operations, incidents, maintenance, and inspections, and prepare comprehensive reports for management.
**Requirements:**
- Proven experience in a Marine Superintendent role or significant HSE experience in a seagoing capacity.
- Proficiency in Safety Management Systems (SMS) and a strong commitment to safety.
- Previous experience with Ro-Pax or Ro-Ro vessels, including an understanding of their unique operational challenges.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- In-depth knowledge of maritime regulations and industry standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
- Financial acumen for budget management.
- Emergency response and crisis management experience.
