Responsible To: Head of IT
Purpose of Role: As a Systems Development Manager you'll be responsible for evaluating, project managing and implementing the appropriate business systems in both the UK and Portugal. This will include improving and developing the company's core IT systems & applications and incorporating new technology as required. You will also manage the backend SQL databases to ensure data across the company remains consistent, accurate, secure, and appropriate information is available to all users.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Manage the migration of current Navision programme to Business Central Cloud
* Evaluate and implement appropriate business systems architecture and use of PackStar & Harvest Manager
* Effectively manage, develop, and maintain the business core systems & applications.
* Design and implementation of tables, stored procedures, functions, models, security and jobs within all SQL applications
* Manage Business Intelligence Analyst
* Conduct system testing and facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) of developed functionality and ensure defined business requirements are satisfied.
* Query performance tuning and optimisations
* Provide 3rd party developers and testers with realistic test data, providing advice on improvements, design and programming best practice.
* Recovering from transactional data loss
* Evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions
* Monitor database performance & provide statistics and performance data to teams on a regular basis.
* Provide out of hours support for business-critical processes.
* Facilitate and provide training to the user base on an ad-hoc basis.
* Support users in the use of the company's core systems/and applications providing training and advice.
Skills & Experiences
* Strong project management skills with effective results within system development environment
* Proven success in implementing system change.
* Substantial experience of working in a similar role managing and developing critical business systems and applications ideally covering most of following technology and systems development areas:
* Migration to Business Central 365 Cloud
* MS SQL Server
* SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
* SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
* SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
* Database Architecture and Data Modelling
* TSQL, Power Query & Powershell
* Data Warehousing (WhereScape)
* Excel and advanced formulas
* VBA or similar scripting knowledge
* Management of an organisation's data and metadata
* Organise, specify and model new requirements to existing applications that are reliable and predictable.
* Ability to design technical solutions based upon business requirements.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
* Ability to learn and quickly respond to a rapidly changing business environment.
Other Duties
* Understand how each department/site fits into the structure.
* Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety regulations as given in company Risk Assessments.
* Always represent brand and communicate the values.
* Take responsibility for personal development.
