The role
Based full-time in our Bristol office, reporting to the IT Services Manager you will provide 1st line desktop support to the Bristol office and offer support remotely to other offices via our Helpdesk system. The primary function is to support our Bristol users, but other duties will involve IT support and administration for Central IT. Other duties include telephone answering for support calls (Service Desk) new starter setup and inductions and general IT administration.
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1st line and occasional 2nd line, hands-on, and remote support for issues raised by staff in the Bristol office working to SLA thresholds
- Raise incidents, service requests, changes, and problems using the Cherwell service desk tool, gathering appropriate details to aid in troubleshooting and resolution
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and service requests working to SLA thresholds
- Answering calls, emails, and self-service requests to the IT Service Desk
- Install approved software
- Provide basic application support for users, to show how to use the software or particular functions
- Liaise with the internal IT group to manage the ordering and distribution of office desktops, laptops, monitors, projectors, peripherals, and mobile devices for the office, so that all employees have access to the appropriate IT equipment
- Maintain the asset register of IT equipment
- Setup, deploy and maintain IT equipment using a standard imaging process
- Manage and implement moves and changes of IT equipment (including patch cabinets)
- Arrange safe disposal/recycling of old equipment following WEEE regulations
- Setup projectors and equipment in meeting rooms
- Setup, deploy and maintain printers and plotters
- Carry out other appropriate duties requested by management
- Inductions for new members of staff
- General IT administration
- Assist the infrastructure team by providing remote hands for infrastructure equipment (e.g., replacing failed hot-swappable components under the supervision of a member of the infrastructure team.)
- Complete weekly visual inspections of equipment in the server room
- Liaise with 3rd party support suppliers as and when required for hardware replacements
- User account and mailbox administration using Active Directory, Exchange Control Panel, and Active role server
- Communication with office staff - including outages, updates, and crucial IT info
