PermanentWe have an amazing opportunity for an Engineering Manager/ Senior Technical Lead to own and oversee the technology, architecture, product set, and a strategic roadmap of a key division within one of the largest directory companies in the UK. You will oversee 2 to 3 agile pods, and work with inhouse Scrum teams to deliver exciting products and features. This includes taking ownership for some of the most business critical teams and projects live currently. You will be a fantastic solutions architect using modern cloud-based architectures. You'll have a deep technical knowledge and hands on experience on coding practises and architecture, however, today you are looking to use these skills to mentor and guide developers and technical leads to support our exciting growth plans.
Reporting to the Head of Development, your primary focus will be in three areas: technical architecture and crafting solutions, strategic roadmap and working with your teams to reliably deliver at pace and finally building brilliant teams. You will work across strategic priorities and inspire your teams to create, evolve and deliver well thought out technical solutions against the roadmap. You'll be the first Senior Engineering Manager within our clients team of Engineering Managers and leads. As such, you'll be an experienced people leader, with a background in managing highly capable, expert teams. You will deeply understand how a high functioning development team builds and delivers at scale and to a high quality. You will take ownership for the personal development of all of your direct reports through deep functional knowledge and the application of expert coaching and mentoring skills on a day-to-day basis. From a technical standpoint, you'll have extensive experience in event driven cloud architecture as well as have experience in driving performance in an agile, DevOps/GitOps/shift-left software development environment, with strong build and deployment pipelines.

What do you need to succeed?
* Previous experience in an Engineering Manager or Senior Team Lead role along with a successful track record of leading high performing, delivery focused agile teams.
* A strong understanding of development processes, agile and shift left methodology and CI/CD pipelines.
* Expertise across cloud and event-based architecture.
* Tech expertise across .NET at the back and preferably experience with React or Angular or similar modern JavaScript at the front end.
* Strong technical understanding of containers, test automation, fault tolerance etc.
* Inspirational leadership and communication style that will engage, retain, and excite your teams.
