Senior Hardware Engineer in Portsmouth, Hampshire

Responsibilities
Work with Hardware Engineer Team Leader to support scoping activities to structure specific delivery solutions, ensuring customer expectations can be met within the planned parameters on timing, costs and use of resources.
Manage logging of hardware warranty events as necessary through to completion.
Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and software issues during builds and site installs.
To perform data erasure services both at Voyager Park and on customer sites.
Provide after-hours coverage for customer management associated with the managed services function
Mentoring of Junior Engineers.
Create and maintain technical process and procedural documents
Requirements
Clean manual driving licence
Valid passport
Ability to pass BS7858:2012 vetting
Ability to hold UK NSV SC clearance
Ability to travel to domestic & overseas customer sites, including overnight stays
Able to work out of hours including night and weekend work
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2 years IT background and experience in the enterprise technologies (such as IBM, EMC, Microsoft)
Experience participating in large scale projects and team
KNOWLEDGE
Blanco product knowledge (Hard drive erasure)
Knowledge of health and safety standards and risk management
Knowledge of and understanding of best practice in carrying out installs and decomms
SKILLS
Hardware engineering skills across heterogeneous environments
Windows, Linux, VMware knowledge and skills; installing, configuring & administering.
Teamwork skills. Works with and assists other team members, shares information and knowledge and willingly takes on new tasks.
Able to apply customer care skills when dealing with both external and internal customers
BEHAVIOURS
Able to work accurately, precisely and in an organised manner even under pressure
Good communication skills, in particular able to maintain good communications with customers to ensure full understanding of customers' needs and issues.
Produces high quality and accurate work under time pressure or volume of work
Able to demonstrate delivery of services to a standard required by the customer
Able to effectively prioritise own workload and schedule tasks and activities on a daily basis to meet deadlines
