Senior HV Design Engineer - York - Perm - Up to £58,000
ARM are working with a Global Engineering firm that are looking for a Senior HV Design Engineer to join the experienced team in York. This is a fantastic opportunity to progress your career in a reputable business while working on the biggest rail infrastructure projects in the UK.
About You:
You will be an experienced HV Design Engineer, with a strong background in the rail industry.
Essential Skills:
- You have experience of producing detailed High Voltage Substation designs for the Railway.
- You have an Engineering Degree or HND/HNC (minimum) in a relevant subject area.
- You are a member of the IET or other recognised Professional body.
- You possess a good working knowledge of appropriate Railway and associated discipline standards.
- You have a wide variety of experience in the design and implementation of rail traction power systems with a proven track record of delivering good quality designs.
- You have practical experience of the operational requirements of railway construction works.
- You possess good knowledge of Project Safety requirements.
- You have demonstrable experience of interfacing directly with clients and in representing a company to external parties.
- You have a good understanding of task, time and people management.
Desirable:
- You are working towards a Professional Engineering status, Incorporated or Chartered Engineer.
- You are a current holder of Personal Track Safety card.
- You have railway protection, traction power system design, SCADA, distribution or substation project/site engineer experience.
- You have previous experience / exposure to working with a TNO / DNO in the provision of an upgraded / new traction supply point.
What you will be doing:
Working with the Principal Engineer, you will deliver consistent high-quality designs which safely implement rail traction power distribution solutions to the customer's specifications, agreed timescales and budgets. In addition, you will support the creation of the programmes of work for these projects and will either be able to demonstrate working towards or have previously undertaken the Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) role.
You will also be a main point of contact for clients and customers, and shall use excellent communication skills to positively manage and influence their expectations. You will also be required to manage the design and collaborate with other teams, ensuring a coherent design approach whilst taking into account both the clients and internal quality and safety policies.
This role is based in the York office (YO10), and is on a hybrid basis with 3 days in the office per week.
What you can expect in return:
You can expect a salary of up to £58,000 DoE plus benefits package that includes 10% bonus, 26 day's holiday increasing with length of service, matched pension scheme up to 10%, flexible benefits scheme and investment in personal development and support of professional institution memberships.
You will need to be eligible to work in the UK without Visa sponsorship.
