Security Vetting Support Officer

A leading Defence and Aerospace company is actively looking for a Security Vetting Support Officer to join their team due to an increase in workload.

As the Security Vetting Support Officer you will be working with a market leading company who aims to provide you with a good work life balance by offering aspects to the opportunity such as hybrid working.

Due to the nature of the role, BPSS clearance is required to start with SC clearance being required during the role.

What you will be involved in:

• You will be part of a highly motivated and progressive security team
• Part of a wider support mechanism that enables us to conduct our business
• Complete and record accurately all right to work and identity checks
• Inputting in a timely and accurately manner, data into a 3rd party provider portal to minimise delays in completion of clearances
• Support HR, Procurement and Recruitment in obtaining BPSS and security clearances for new employees
• Support the team in achieving its objectives and reducing risk to the organisation
• Be point of contact for stakeholders on vetting enquiries
• Liaise with UKSV and other external agencies when appropriate
• Monitor external IT platform to obtain and update security clearances.

Skillset/experience required:

• Experience of pre-employment background checks and national security vetting process
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Customer service experience
• Excellent work ethic, motivated and enthusiastic
• Professional meticulous approach with focus on accuracy
• Ability to work as part of a team and within the wider security department
• Able to work under pressure and prioritise work as required
• IT competent and willing to learn new systems
• 'Can do' positive attitude
• Able to act in the strictest of confidence with personal sensitive data - integrity is paramount
• Ability to challenge, negotiate and problem solve when required
• Willingness to learn new standards and processes to apply best practice security

Desirable:

• Experience of HMG BPSS, UKSV and IPSA
• Experience and knowledge of Protective Security within MOD and defence industry
• Relevant vetting qualification or industry experience
• Awareness and knowledge of recruitment and onboarding processes for defence industry
• Personnel Security awareness for the ongoing aftercare of security cleared staff
• Presentation experience for the delivery of training
• Knowledge of risk management for the maintenance of security checks and clearances
