Solution Architect is to support the Legacy Server Upgrade Project

Legacy Server Upgrade Project

• There is a need to upgrade hundreds of legacy servers, each hosting various applications. A solution architect is required to manage a master inventory of servers and applications.
• The architect will analyse each application to determine whether to upgrade, decommission, or archive with data in read-only mode.
• This role includes engaging with application owners to understand usage and requirements.
• Many applications may be incompatible with the latest server versions, posing a security risk.
• The architect will collaborate with vendors to plan upgrades or identify alternative platforms.
• The initial phase will be a discovery exercise to produce a formal plan for each application, feeding into a broader proposal for the execution phase of the upgrade work.

Resourcing and Budget for Server Project

• The solution architect must be a senior professional with strong communication skills to engage stakeholders and potentially C‑level executives.
