Role: Safe System of Work Controller (24 Month Contract)

Location: Whitehaven, Cumbria

The Energy Division at ARM are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Safe System of Work Controller to work long-term on a contract basis with a leading civil engineering client in the Nuclear industry.

What you'll be doing

• Working on a BEP JV related project
• Promote and ensure Nuclear Safety, Conventional, Radiological, environmental and security standards are upheld and demonstrate positive compliance with site standards, processes and procedures and incorporate delivery or a key role.
• Formally appointed role as Safe System of work Controller
• Participate in stakeholder meetings & agrees standards of work packs.
• Review risk assessments
• Act on behalf of Construction or Commissioning Manager for oversight & co-ordination of work within the facility
• Act on behalf of Construction or Commissioning Manager for oversight of plant configuration changes for the duration that a permit to work is in force.
• Independent verification of plant isolation's
• Carry out plant walk downs to ensure risk assessments are being adhered to
• Maintains competency training for appointed key roles
• Participates in PLOD/PLON.

What do you need to succeed?

• Experience in either operations, maintenance, construction or commissioning.
• Understanding of radiological and/or conventional safety regulations.
• Robust at dealing with conflict & problem solving
• Understanding of plant isolation processes.
• Experience of preparing/reviewing of Risk Assessments.
• Experience of using or applying safe systems of work.
• Ability to complete IOSH training (or equivalent)

Details of the contract

• 24 Months Contract
• Paying up to £49.00 p/h (Inside IR35/Umbrella)
• Based on site at Sellafield
