PermanentOur client are seeking a Third Line Support / Project Engineer to join their expanding team based in Fareham. This role will be a 50/50 mix between 3rd line Support and Project work.
The 3rd Line Support & Project Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and support of client technical infrastructure covering network, hardware and software systems. Acting as a technical authority within the business they will also act as an escalation point to our support team.
Responsibilities include (but not limited too):
- 3rd line escalation IT support relating to Microsoft's core business applications, as well as virtual environments built on Microsoft, and VMware.
- System Administration Support services for Microsoft Server related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, etc.
- Technical services for the consultancy, design and support at a network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security.
- Technical services and support of hosted VoIP telephony solutions.
- Design and implement system solutions for customers using technologies that meet their needs.
- Act as a technical authority internally and to external clients.
- Support a wide variety of business and industry specific applications.
- Implement and support disaster recovery solutions.
- System documentation and consulting services to include system reviews and recommendations.
- Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages.
Skills/Experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 products, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Azure Active Directory and Office software.
- Good knowledge of networking, including WAN and LAN connectivity, switching, VLANs,DNS etc.
- Microsoft Server technology experience, incl. Hyper-V, clustering, DHCP, DNS, licensing.
- Desktop and laptop hardware provisioning.
Desirable skills:
- Strong understanding and technical background in an MSP.
- Professional IT Certifications, such as: Microsoft MCP, MCSA, or MCSE are desirable.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure technologies.
- Experience with VoIP telephony, both hosted and on premises.
- Cyber security awareness, incl. Cyber Essentials scheme.
- Familiarity with some or all of the following networking products: Fortigate , Draytek, Netgear, Ubiquiti (UniFi).
