About the Opportunity:
Our client, a global leader in outdoor and marine equipment design, is looking for a talented and ambitious Product Design Engineer to join their expanding design team. With a rapidly growing order book and an exciting portfolio of projects planned for 2023 and beyond, this is an incredible opportunity to help shape market-leading products in the marine, RV, and outdoor industries.
Role Overview:
The Product Design Engineer will be involved in every stage of the product development cycle-from initial concept to production. You'll take ownership of individual projects, contributing to a wide range of innovative products for recreational marine, RV, and outdoor markets. Working from state-of-the-art, purpose-built offices, you'll have the chance to be part of a talented team driving global innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead product development projects, taking ideas from research through to production.
- Collaborate with sales and OEM customers, discussing feasibility and presenting concepts.
- Assemble prototypes, conducting in-house product testing in labs and on the water.
- Manage BOMs, tooling costs, and liaise with a global supply chain to ensure manufacturability.
- Approve production samples and generate marketing renders and animations.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Experience: A background in product design or design engineering, backed by a relevant degree.
- Project Ownership: Proven track record of managing projects from start to finish within time and budget constraints.
- Technical Skills: Strong design and engineering skills, with expertise in 3D CAD (SolidWorks), FEA, and rendering.
- Software Proficiency: Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Prototyping: Excellent model-making, prototyping, and workshop skills.
- Communication: Clear communicator with a solutions-oriented approach to design.
- Travel-Ready: Ability to travel internationally for client and supplier meetings, with a clean driving license and valid passport.
