Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

In this position as the Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work with a market-leading Defence and Aerospace company in a principal-level position and contribute to vital projects. From this, you will be undertaking a full range of engineering activities in line with all relevant processes, quality, and other requirements.

Due to the nature of the role and the work you will be involved in, SC security clearance will be required.

Desired Skillset:

• PTC Creo Experience
• Ideally Degree/HND/HNC qualified with experience in Mechanical Design and Development in Electronics packaging ideally in Defence or Aerospace industries.
• Experience in PCB Enclosure design for harsh environments (shock, vibration, climatic and electromagnetic)
• Good knowledge and experience in design for manufacture and design for assembly.
• You will be able to demonstrate the ability to lead mechanical designs and have experience working within a multi-disciplinary team with the awareness and understanding of the challenges that this may bring.
• Awareness of proving and qualification activities to ensure compliance against requirements.
• Robust design experience across the Product Life Cycle (CADMID)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience in supplier engagement and development across internal and external multi-disciplinary teams.
• An understanding of structural/thermal/dynamic analysis would be advantageous
