Powertrain Certification Engineer in Cheshire

ContractARMs client is seeking a contractor for the role of; Powertrain Certification Engineer. The role is based in Cheshire and is 12 months initially with a high chance of extension or going on to be a permanent member of staff. The rate is £34 PH (outside of IR35).
The main objective of the job is to undertake Type Approval/Certification for Vehicle Emissions Testing, with regards to powertrain certification.
About you...
Ability to solve complex Engineering related problems. Analysis and management of several design-related issues to identify the root cause.
Able to plan, monitor and expedite specified tests through liaison with VW Group partners and external suppliers.
Compilation of relevant technical information and facilitating compliance for future and current projects.
Collect, manage and analyse data to produce reports/presentations as appropriate and progress design guidelines. Deliver presentations at the appropriate level.
An eye for detail and a structured approach to work.
Understand and maintain liaison with VW group partners to keep up to date with latest group developments.
Able to ensure local Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed in order to ensure own safety and the safety of others
Responsible for ensuring delivery of Type Approval/Certification of systems and market-specific data
Preferred industries and experience background:
Knowledge and experience of Gasoline & Hybrid powertrain systems and certification activities related to those systems.
Automotive experience specific to this is preferred, other closely related experience will be considered.
Engineering Degree or equivalent experience
Associate membership of a relevant professional institution preferably
List in Priority order 'preferred / ideal' skills:
Experience of Engine Power testing and Tailpipe Emissions testing.
Ability to solve problems.
Able to work effectively in a functional team. Support of own contribution in delivering team objectives.
Ability to communicate at various levels across the company in different forums.
Understanding of financial limits within area of responsibility.
Able to keep the local team up-to-date with technology in area of responsibility.
Capture learning from previous experience. Understand and maintain liaison with VW group partners to keep up to date with latest group developments.
